Pictures and some of the specifications of the Motorola Droid HD have appeared on the Web, giving the world its best look so far of this upcoming high-end smartphone. Among the highlights of this model will be a very large display, hi-res camera, and dual-core processor.
According to an unconfirmed report, the Droid HD will have a 4.5-inch touchscreen, larger than the majority of its rivals. The resolution of this display is not yet known, but given its name, this could be qHD (960 x 540) or 720p (1280 x 720). This is going to be set in to a slim design.
The Droid HD in the leaked image is running Android OS 2.3 (Gingerbread), but an upgrade to the next version of Google's operating system -- code-named "Ice Cream Sandwich" -- is certainly in development. This smartphone allegedly is going to include a dual-core 1GHz processor.
In addition, it will reportedly include an 8 megapixel rear-facing camera as well as a lower resolution front-facing one for video conferencing. A microSD slot is visible in one of the leaked images, and an HDMI video-out port is also going to be included, a feature on all of Motorola's recent high-end models.
The screen resolution for this handset isn't the only specification to remain a mystery. Other unknowns include internal storage capacity, whether it will support Verizon's 4G LTE service, battery capacity, and other features. It's also not yet known when Verizon is going to introduce the Motorola Droid HD, or what it's exact price is going to be.
