Music lovers stay tuned as Sony Ericsson has just announced a new Android smartphone with Walkman branding that features unique music-centric qualities and Facebook integration.
Dubbed the Live with Walkman, the handset will sport a Walkman button for instant access to music, where users can connect to their Facebook accounts and share music with friends. The smartphone will run on Android OS 2.3 (Gingerbread) and is expected to ship in select global markets in Q4, though no exact date or price has been set.
The phone will feature other qualities that make finding new music easy, such as the Media Discovery app, which offers Facebook recommendations from friends, and a TrackID app that can identify songs from the FM radio and music player. The Live with Walkman will also offer access to additional content, like music videos and lyrics, from an artist with the Infinite button.
The device will incorporate Sony’s xLoud technology for enhanced audio through the phone’s speakers and will tap into the Qriocity music and video service from Sony to find songs and movies from major labels.
As for the other specs, the Live with Walkman will sport a 3.2-inch 480 x 320 (HVGA) Touchscreen display and feature a front-facing VGA camera for video calling and a 5MP rear-facing camera capable of 720p HD video recording. The device will be powered by a single-core 1GHz processor with 380MB of RAM and have Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and DLNA.
