Although its intent was to keep details of the Nexus Prime under wraps, Samsung's legal department has confirmed both the existence of the Nexus Prime and that the device is being built by this manufacturer.
A cease and desist letter, sent to an unknown recipient and obtained by Geek.com, states “It has come to our attention that you are wrongfully in possession of, and intend to release or otherwise publicly disclose without Samsung’s consent, firmware for the Nexus Prime.” Signed by Samsung’s General Counsel, Bryan Hopkins, the letter goes on to say that the Nexus Prime firmware is the exclusive property of Samsung and its partners.
More about the Next Nexus
The Samsung Nexus Prime is expected to be Google’s first model running Android OS 4.0 -- AKA Ice Cream Sandwich -- with rumors suggesting the handset will launch on Verizon Wireless and possibly other carriers in October. The third generation Nexus is said to be powered by a 1.5GHz processor and will sport a 4.5-inch 720p super AMOLED HD display.
The device is also expected to feature a 5MP rear-facing camera with an alleged “unusually high-quality sensor,” in addition to a 1MP front-facing camera. Rumored to include 4G standard LTE, the Nexus Prime could run on Verizon’s high-speed network.
Though the smartphone’s predecessors, the Nexus One and Nexus S, were not distributed by Verizon, multiple reports have surfaced in the past weeks confirming the this model will be heading to Big Red.
