Google Nexus Prime Will Actually Be the Samsung Droid Prime

Verizon will reportedly be the exclusive provider of the Samsung Droid Prime, which previous reports had called the Nexus Prime. This cutting-edge smartphone be the first with Android OS 4.0, which goes by the code-name Ice Cream Sandwich.

Handsets that bear the Nexus moniker are the flagships for Google's operating system, and the ones this comp0any recommends developers use. They always have a generic version of Android, without one of the third-party user interfaces that companies like HTC, Samsung, and Motorola put on their smartphones.

As the Droid Prime won't be part of this series, it will almost certainly include Samsung TouchWiz UI. It's also expected to have an array of other high-end features, like a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus display, a 1.5GHz processor, and 4G LTE.

The model will be so advanced that Verizon picked it over the Samsung Galaxy S II. This is an Android smartphone that is selling very well in Europe and will be offered all of the top U.S. carriers except Verizon.

The Samsung Droid Prime will, according to unconfirmed reports, be introduced in October. The price is not yet know, but will likely be at least $200.
