Smartphone displays keep creeping up in size, and the latest example of this is the HTC Runnymede, which will reportedly have a 4.7-inch screen. This is big enough that the device might qualify as a "tabphone" -- half tablet, half phone.
Many of the specifications of this upcoming HTC model have leaked out, showing that its extra-large display will have a WVGA (800 x 480) resolution. The Runnymede is going to run Android OS 2.3.4 (Gingerbread) on a 1.5GHz single-core processor.
Other high-end features will include DLNA wireless multimedia sharing and 16 GB of internal storage. It is supposedly going to have an 8 megapixel rear-facing camera plus a 1.5MP front-facing one.
HTC recently purchased Beats Technology, and this smartphone is going to come with a pair of headphones made by this company.
There is no word yet on when or where the HTC Runnymede will be released. Any info on pricing is equally unavailable.
