With Windows Phone 7.5 launching tomorrow, Microsoft has made the platform more Mac-friendly with an update to the app that synchronizes Apple's desktops and laptops with Windows smartphones.
The upgrade to Connector 2.0 enables both Marketplace support and ringtone transfers for Windows Phone 7.5-equipped handsets. The enhancement also brings better backup and restore operations, full sync and import support for Apple Aperture software and drag-and-drop file importing from the Browse Device window.
Additional improvements include metadata support for videos, iTunes import support in certain languages, configurations for podcast sync and localization support for 13 additional languages. Microsoft also claims the update has added extra error codes and helps references for device updates, resolved connectivity issues and cleaned up album art display problems for certain devices.
With Windows Phone 7.5, also known as Mango, set to launch Sept. 1, Microsoft has slowly begun to release more information regarding the future of its mobile devices in past weeks. On Aug. 24 the company confirmed that new Windows Phone handsets that launch with Mango will feature skype-integration and front-facing cameras. And just a day before that Microsoft revealed its plans for other forthcoming updates for the Windows Phone operating system.
