AT&T Introducing Affordable Impulse 4G

AT&T customers who are looking for an inexpensive but still capable smartphone should take a look at the Impulse 4G. This Android smartphone is going to sell for just $30 with contract.

Despite its low price, this won't be a "bare bones" model. It will have a 3.8-inch WVGA (800 x 480) touchscreen and a 5MP camera capable of taking 720p video. And it will be able to connect to AT&T's 4G HSPA+ network, allowing users to quickly access web sites and watch streaming video.

This smartphone -- AT&T's first from Huawei --  is going to run Android OS 2.2 (Froyo), plus it will include Wi-Fi and GPS. It will come with a suite of apps for accessing the Web, reading email, watching video, and much more.

Avi Greengart, Research Director for Consumer Devices at Current Analysis, wrote "The Huawei Impulse 4G from AT&T is priced like a budget smartphone but brings a much larger display and higher resolution video recording than other Android phones at this price point."

AT&T will launch the Impulse 4G on Sept. 18 where it will cost $30 with a two-year wireless contract. Those who are looking to save money on their AT&T wireless plan can get 200 MB of data transfers per month for $15 dollars.
