Sprint and LG Mobile have announced the upcoming arrival of the LG Marquee, a sleek Android smartphone that will be launched in partnership with the non-profit design collective MADE.
The Marquee will be a thin, black handset at 4.8 by 2.5 by 0.36 inches and will weigh in at 3.95 oz. But what will separate this device from its counterparts is its 4-inch Nova screen. Nova, a super-bright IPS LCD technology, is able to pump out more light. The Marquee's 800 x 480 screen is said to put out 700 nits of brightness, according to LG. The screen maker also claims Nova is more energy efficient than other screens and uses less power to produce white pixels, thus giving the Marquee a longer battery life.
In addition to its screen, the Marquee will run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread and will be powered by a 1GHz processor. The smartphone will also feature a 5MP main camera, a 2MP front-facing shooter, a pre-installed 2GB microSD card, Wi-Fi with hotspot capability and GPS.
The LGH Marquee will be available through Sprint for pre-sale Sept. 20 for $100 with a new two-year contract and will appear in stores on Oct. 2. The carrier appears to be giving the Marquee a fashion spin and will hold a launch event connected with New York Fashion Week this Thursday, Sept. 15.
