Samsung Galaxy S II Landing at AT&T Oct. 2

The Samsung Galaxy S II from AT&T will be available through the carrier starting Oct. 2, according to a Tweet from AT&T.

AT&T's version of the Samsung Galaxy S II will not be re-branded by the carrier, unlike Sprint which dubbed its device the Samsung Epic 4G Touch, and will retail for $200 with a two-year contract, with a minimum $15 per month data plan required.

In this second batch of Galaxy S phones, AT&T opted for a slimmer build compared to Sprint and T-Mobile's version of the device. AT&T's Galaxy S II will measure in at 8.9mm at its skinniest. In addition to a thinner design, the smartphone will also sport a smaller display than its counterparts, packing a 4.2-inch Super AMOLED Plus screen.

The Android 2.3 Gingerbread-based phone will feature an 8MP rear-facing camera, as well as a 2MP front-facing shooter. The next generation Galaxy S handset will pack dual-core processors and enhancements to Samsung's TouchWiz UI, Media Hub and Social Hub and a new Voice Talk feature. The AT&T device will feature specific software tools from the carrier, including My AT&T, Navigator, Family Map and Mobile Code Scanner.

Sprint's Epic 4G Touch became the first version of the Galaxy S II to be released in the U.S. when it launched on Sept. 16. The Epic 4G Touch is also priced at $200 with a two-year contract, and can be found at Sprint's website now.?
