Samsung Galaxy S II Will Debut from T-Mobile in Mid-October

T-Mobile has just announced the release date and price for its version of the popular Samsung Galaxy S II. This model will have a 4.5-inch AMOLED touchscreen, dual-core processor, and other high-end features.

The carrier committed to offering this device weeks ago, but kept quiet about exactly what its plans were. These are no longer a mystery: the Galaxy S II will debut from T-Mobile on Oct. 12, and it will sell for $230 with a two-year service contract.

This device is going to one of the most powerful available from this carrier, as it will run Android OS 2.3.5 (Gingerbread) on a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor. It will have 16GB of internal storage plus a microSD memory card slot, as well as 1GB of RAM.

The Galaxy S II is going to be built around its large WVGA (800 x 480) Super AMOLED Plus touchscreen, and it will have an HDMI video-out port for showing the contents of this display on external monitors and TVs. The 8 megapixel camera will support recording 1080p video, and its 1850 mAh battery should allow for playing lots of video.

It will support T-Mobile's 4G HSPA+ wireless data network, and it is going to include Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0. This device will even include DLNA for wirelessly sharing multimedia files. 

T-Mobile isn't the only U.S. carrier with its eye on this handset. Sprint released a version earlier this month, which it re-branded as the Samsung Epic 4G Touch. AT&T is going to introduce its own version soon, though this will have a slightly smaller display than the one offered by its rivals.
