Take a First Look at Android OS 4.0 Running on a Smartphone

A video showing the next version Google's Android OS has appeared on the web, giving the world it's first look at what this version, code-named Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS), running on a smartphone.

Google has promised to release this in the next month or so, but few details are available yet. Even the product number hasn't been officially announced, though there's evidence that it will be OS 4.0.

What has been made clear is the main goal will  be to unite the smartphone and tablet versions of this operating system. As it stands now, Android OS 2.x Gingerbread is for smartphones, while Android OS 3.x Honeycomb is for tablets. ICS will be for both, and will run on devices with any size display.

The first 54 seconds of the video gives an extensive look at the features of the camera, but jumping to past that turns up more interesting items. This includes a demonstration of the app switcher that debuted in Honeycomb running on a smaller-screen device.
