Motorola and Verizon Wireless sent out invitations for a press event next Tuesday, October 18 in New York City that read, "Faster, Thinner, Smarter, Stronger." The two companies will undoubtedly be using the event as a platform to announce new devices, as they ask invitees to join them to "celebrate the next big innovation from Motorola Mobility."
In addition to the invites that were sent out, Motorola has also released a promotional video for the impending announcements. While it does not provide any specifics on what new devices we may be introduced to, some information can be gleaned from it, including the fact that we may see four new products coming from Motorola since it mentions "four reasons to get excited" in the description.
The video also features some imagery that may point to some of the products that will be announced on that day, including a razor and bullets, which lend credence to the theory that the new RAZR smartphone and its Kevlar casing may finally be outed.
The Motorola Droid RAZR, if that actually turns out to be its name, could be a device that was previously known as the Droid HD. Details and specs of this smartphone leaked out in late summer. This will supposedly have a 4.5-inch touchscreen, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 8 megapixel camera, and other cutting-edge features.
In addition, some industry watchers are predicting that these two companies will use next week's event to unveil one or more new versions of the Motorola Xoom. This could be the first tablet to with Android OS 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich).
Be sure to check back in at Brighthand on the 18th when we’ll have the full scoop on what Motorola discussed at the event, as well as hands-on previews of the upcoming devices.
