Samsung has announced its two latest additions to its Android lineup for AT&T with the Captivate Glide and the Double Time.
The Samsung Captivate Glide is going to sport a 4-inch Super AMOLED screen, along with a side-slide QWERTY keyboard. The Android OS 2.3 Gingerbread device will pack a 1GHz dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM.
The Glide will come equipped with dual cameras: an 8MP with LED rear-facing shooter and a 1.3MP front camera for video chatting. Samsung promises 4G support, though the smartphone will run on AT&T’s HSPA+ network, as its LTE network is currently available in only 5 cities.
The Android OS 2.2 Froyo–based Double Time will offer users a compact design with dual touchscreens and a full flip keyboard. The smartphone will be powered by a 600MHz processor and will come with 260MB of onboard memory support, though a 2GB microSD card is going to be included.
The Double Time garners its name from its 3.2-inch full touch external display with a 320 x 480 resolution, as well as a second internal Touchscreen that's the same size and resolution. The handset will feature a 3.2MP camera with a camcorder, in addition to voice recognition, dedicated shortcut function keys, drag-and-drop widgets and five scrolling home screens.
Plenty o' Android
While neither Samsung nor AT&T have mentioned price or availability for the two devices, AT&T has just announced that it will exceed its commitment to introduce 12 Android devices in 2011 with the addition of its latest Android smartphones: the Captivate, the Double Time, the Motorola ATRIX 2, Pantech Pocket and the AT&T Avail. The nation’s second largest Wireless Network will offer a collection of 19 Android smartphones after these additions.
These announcements were timed to co-incide with the CTIA phone-oriented tradeshow, which starts today in San Diego.
