BlackBerry Bold 9900 Finally Coming to AT&T

Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile all introduced the latest versions of the BlackBerry Bold in August, but not AT&T. This carrier says the wait won't be much longer, however.

The Bold 9900 is the first in this popular series series with a touchscreen, and it is one of the first handsets with NFC (Near Field Communications). It is part of RIM's new lineup of smartphones running BlackBerry OS 7.

A post on the @ATTDeals Twitter feed says simply "The BlackBerry® Bold (TM) 9900 is coming soon! Stay tuned." No specific date was named, and pricing is equally a mystery.

More BlackBerry 9900 Details
The Bold series has been one of RIM's most popular, and the company made few changes in the basic design in this new version, even though a touchscreen was added. The device sports a 2.8-inch, VGA (640 x 480) 287 dpi capacitive display set above a small thumb-keyboard and optical trackpad.

AT&T's version will almost certainly support the carrier's 4G HSPA+ network, and have Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. Other features include a 5 megapixel camera and 8GB of internal memory.

BlackBerry OS 7 isn't a dramatic improvement over the previous version, but it includes a significantly improved web browser, support for 720p HD video recording, and an augmented reality app. The Bold 9900 also has a new version of BlackBerry Messenger and an updated Social Feeds app.

T-Mobile already offers this smartphone, while Verizon and Sprint carry the CDMA equivalent, the BlackBerry Bold 9930.
