HTC Vivid Bringing Its 4G LTE Speed to AT&T

AT&T has just unveiled its first pair of smartphones with 4G LTE support. One of the will be the HTC Vivid, a cutting-edge device with a dual-core processor and a large qHD touchscreen.

This upcominf handset will run Android on a dual-core 1.2 GHz processor. It is going to include 16 GB of on-board memory, and a microSD memory card slot means this can be expanded up to 48 GB.

The Vivid will be built around a 4.5-inch qHD (960 x 540) display, and will sport an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with f2.2 28mm wide angle lens for low-light photos. This camera will be capable of 1080p HD video recording at 60 frames per second.

It is going to will arrive in AT&T company-owned stores and this carier's website on Sunday, Nov. 6. The HTC Vivid will sell for $200 with a two-year service contract.

LTE 101
AT&T introduced its LTE network this fall, and so far it has been available only via USB laptop cards or mobile hotsports. The Vivid and the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket are the first smartphones with support for this 4G network, which is significantly faster than the previous HSPA+ network. 

On Nov. 6, the carrier will intoduce LTE in Boston, Washington, D.C., Baltimore, Indianapolis and Athens, Georgia. It is already available in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio. The carrier plans to reach 15 markets and 70 million Americans by year's end.
