HTC has just officially announced its latest music-oriented smartphone, the Rezound. This Android device is on its way to Verizon in mid-month.
Earlier this week the model made its first appearance in an ad that was accidentally posted up early in several Verizon stores, but now the symphonic smartphone is official. Previously known as the Vigor, the Rezound will offer a fairly impressive spec sheet.
Packing a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, the smartphone will feature a 4.3-inch screen with 1280 x 720 resolution, a first for HTC. Unlike the highly-anticipated Samsung Galaxy Nexus, which will ship with Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), the Rezound will be running Android 2.3.4 (Gingerbread) at launch, with the latest version of HTC’s Sense UI layered on top, though the phone will ship ICS ready with an update likely to come early next year.
Equipped with 1GB RAM and 16GB internal storage, the handset is going to feature an 8MP camera, as well as a front-facing 2MP one, and will allow users to edit and share videos within the camera app.
The Rezound appears to have taken design cues from the Droid Incredible and the Sensation XE, with its red and black color scheme. The phone also touts its Beats by Dre technology, boasting the Beats Audio logo on the lower back panel. HTC was sure to highlight the enhanced music experience of the Rezound, promising to bundle a pair of Beats earbuds with each device.
The HTC Rezound will support Verizon’s 4G LTE network and will go on sale Nov. 14 for $300 with a new two-year agreement. This makes it the latest model from this carrier to have this price, as Verizon has stopping pricing all its top-of-line products at $200.
