Spotify Music Service for Windows Phone Now Available

Spotify is now available for Windows Phone 7, bringing the music streaming service to the Marketplace.

Announced yesterday, Spotify for Windows Phone promises to be the most optimized version for mobile yet, according to the company. Already available on mobile platforms like Android and iOS, Spotify allows users to listen to music from its vast library, as well as play tracks from personal playlists. 

Users will need a Windows Phone 7.5 Mango-equipped handset to get the app, and no plans of making the service available to earlier OS versions was announced. The app supports synchronized playlists with the desktop client, friends’ updates via Spotify People and offline playback, which is done on a per-playlist basis.

Spotify for Windows Phone supports playback over Wi-Fi and 3G, allowing users to choose whether to stream at regular or high quality. Users can also sync their playlists over 3G, making it collaborative, sharing it on social networks, or deleting it. 

Like the desktop one, this mobile version supports search, as well as “What’s New”, which offers new album and song suggestions.  A simple long-press on an album or track will allow users to queue them, make them favorites or add to a playlist. 

Yet like most things in life, this service comes at a cost. While the app itself is free to download, users will need a Spotify Premium account, which costs $10 per month, to access it.
