Verizon’s latest smartphone, the HTC Rezound, hits shelves today and brings Beats audio to Big Red’s 4G LTE network.
The music-oriented handset packs a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and features a 4.3-inch screen with a 1280 x 720 resolution, a first for HTC. The Rezound ships with Android OS 2.3.4 (Gingerbread), and with the latest version of HTC’s Sense UI layered on top, though the phone will be eligible for an Android OS 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) update early next year.
The new smartphone also features 1GB RAM and 16GB internal storage, in addition to an 8MP camera, as well as a 2MP front-facing shooter. Users are able to edit and share photos within the camera app.
With a pretty impressive spec sheet in tow, the HTC Rezound is also first smartphone in the U.S. boasting Beats audio technology. HTC touts the Rezound’s ability to deliver studio-quality sound with unique audio tuning, ensuring that customers hear the music as the artist intended. The phone sports a Beats logo on its lower backside and comes bundled with Beats by Dre earbuds.
The HTC Rezound retails for $300 from Verizon with a two-year contract, though the online retailer Wirefly.com is currently offering a $50 discount on the device, selling the phone for $250 with a two-year contract from Verizon.
