Less than two weeks ago, Google launched a Gmail app for iOS, only to remove it within hours of going live due to a significant bug. Yesterday, however, the company claimed to have fixed the issues plaguing the first release and has once again made it available in the Apple App Store.
When the app first launched on Nov. 2, users reported an error message stating “no valid ‘aps-environment’ error entitlement,” appearing when they first opened the app. Google immediately removed this software from the App Store and promised to be working on a fix.
While Google didn’t spend much time apologizing for the barely functional program, the company did claim to fix all bugs, as well as implement additional features. The app, which has been present on all Android OS-based devices since this operating system first launched, is slated to bring the full Gmail app experience to iOS users, according to Google.
The application includes push notifications and sounds, inbox search, auto-complete for email addresses, as well as the ability to upload photos using the new attachment feature.
The free Gmail app can be found in the App Store, and is available on any iOS 4+ device. Those who already have the previous version must uninstall it, or at least log out of the old app prior to installing the new one.
