Verizon has just announced the availability for its latest entry level smartphone, the Samsung Illusion.
The Samsung Illusion will be available from Verizon’s website starting tomorrow, while it won’t actually hit stores until January. The handset will sell for $80 with a two-year contract, however patient customers can wait until Nov. 24 when it will be free. Verizon will offer the Illusion for $0.00 with a contract from Black Friday through Cyber Monday (Nov. 28) as part of an online promotion.
While Samsung’s latest Android smartphone won’t be as impressive as the Galaxy Nexus, it will definitely be a suitable entry-level device. Packing a 1GHz Hummingbird processor, the Samsung Illusion will be powered by Android OS 2.3 (Gingerbread). The smartphone will feature a 3MP camera and will ship with an 2GB microSD card preinstalled. Verizon touts the device as being able to act as a Mobile Hotspot support for up to five devices, while its eco-friendly design is made from mostly post-consumer materials.
The Samsung Illusion will support Bluetooh 3.0 and Wi-Fi connectivity. In addition, the device will feature SWYPE technology to help users input text faster, as well as corporate email support for Micrsoft Office Exchange.
