T-Mobile and Nokia have invited journalists to an event a week from today. These companies are doing the best they can to keep the agenda under their collective hat, but word on the street is the Nokia Lumia 710 Windows Phone will be the star of the show.
Beyond giving a date and a time -- Dec. 14 at 7 pm -- the invitation itself is vague:
T-Mobile and Nokia have something exciting in the works. Be amongst the first to experience it.
Nevertheless, given Nokia's current focus on devices running Microsoft's Windows Phone operating system there is little room for debate on what these two are going to announce. All that's left is the specifics.
Nokia Lumia 710, And More?
Not too long ago, a version of the Nokia Lumia 710 passed through the FCC with T-Mobile's 3G/4G 1700Mhz (AWS) bands. This was quickly followed by rumors that this wasn't a coincidence: T-Mobile has plans to introduce this smartphone in January.
No Nokia model running Microsoft's new OS has debuted yet in the U.S., so most people in this country are likely unfamiliar with the offerings. Filling in some of the most important details, the Lumia 710 sports a 3.7-inch WVGA (800 x 480) touchscreen. It runs Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango) on a 1.4GHz single-core processor and 8GB internal storage. The phone also features a 5MP camera, 512MB RAM, and a 1300mAh battery.
Other Possibilities?
Nokia has also introduced the Lumia 800 Windows Phone in Europe. This is a higher-end model that includes a 3.7-inch AMOLED ClearBlack curved display, better camera, and 16 GB of storage capacity.
There have also been persistent rumors and leaks of the Lumia 900. According to these sources, it will have 4-inch display but otherwise generally the same specs as the Lumia 800.
Whatever T-Mobile and Nokia unveil next Wednesday evening, tune in to Brighthand for all the details.
