UPDATE: Verizon Wireless now claims it has fixed a problem with its network that prevented users from accessing its 4G LTE network. A statement from the carrier says:
"Verizon Wireless 4G LTE service is returning to normal this morning, after company engineers worked to resolve an issue with the 4G network during the early morning hours today. Throughout this time, 4G LTE customers were able to make voice calls and send and receive text messages. The 3G data network operated normally."
Despite the carrier's comments, reports of 3G problems were circulating on the Web this morning.
Verizon Wireless subscribers across the U.S. had problems getting data service this morning. The problem has been fixed for some of the carrier's customers, but not all.
Early this morning, Verizon's data service was apparently completely offline, so no one could make a cellular-wireless connection to the Internet. A few hours later, some -- but not all -- users are reporting that the problem has been repaired.
Getting a Bad Reputation?
This is the second time this month this carrier has had problems with its data service. A few weeks ago
And back in the spring, another 4G LTE outage caused the delay of Verizon's second 4G-enabled smartphone, the Samsung Droid Charge.
