Some of the specs of the next model in Samsung's top-selling Galaxy S series may have leaked out. This will reportedly include a quad-core processor as well as a number of other high-end features. It could be unveiled in Q1 of next year.
An earlier report indicated that the Galaxy S III will have a 1.8 GHz dual-core chip, but new information coming from S. Korea indicates a quad-core processor. This could make Samsung the first company to release a smartphone with such a chip.
More Specs
Other specifications of this model leaked out a few months ago. It will supposedly have a 4.6-inch, 1280 x 720, Super AMOLED Plus display, 2GB of RAM, and a 12 megapixel camera. The device is widely expected to run Android OS 4.0 (code-named Ice Cream Sandwich).
According to the unconfirmed S. Korean report, the Samsung Galaxy S III will be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) tradeshow in February. Its predecessor, the Galaxy S II, was unveiled at the same show this year. It was introduced in Europe a few months later, but didn't make it to the United States until the fall. The new model might follow that same pattern.
