CES 2012: Verizon Wireless and Motorola Unveil the Droid 4

At CES 2012, Verizon Wireless and Motorola are showing off what they claim will be the thinnest and most powerful 4G LTE QWERTY smartphone: The Droid 4. Like its predecessors, this is going to have both a large touchscreen and an equally large sliding keyboard.

The half-inch thin smartphone will have a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, an 8MP rear-facing camera with 1080p HD video capture, and will have 16GB of on-board memory. It is going to contain a microSD slot that will allow customers to store up to 32GB of media. It will also ship with a 4-inch qHD (960 x 540) display. 

The device will be initially powered by Google Android OS 2.3.5 (Gingerbread) , but Verizon Wireless and Motorola say that it will be upgraded at a later time to Android OS 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich).

The two companies have yet to announce the release date and the price of the device. Brighthand will keep you updated whenever this news is made public, but an earlier unconfirmed report indicated that the handset is scheduled to debut in February.

This is just one of several upcoming 4G smatrphones Verizon is announcing at the Consumer Electronics Show. AT&T is announcing soom as well.
