CES2012: Verizon Introduces the Droid RAZR MAXX, Boosting Battery Life in Smartphones

While Verizon and Motorola introduced the fourth generation Droid handset at CES earlier, the partners added another device to the Droid family: the RAZR MAXX, a smartphone nicknamed “the overachiever” thanks to its impressive battery life. 

The Droid RAZR MAXX will pack the same dual-core processor and 8MP camera of the Droid 4, in addition to offering 4G LTE connectivity. The RAZR MAXX will be almost identical to the current RAZR, except for a massive boost in battery capacity. The original handset has a 1700mAh battery, while the RAZR MAXX will feature a whopping 3300mAh battery, which Verizon’s claims will offer 21 hours of continuous talk time. 

The smartphone will be aimed at heavy multitaskers and at just 8.99mm thick, the RAZR MAXX will not be much larger than the already almost impossibly thin RAZR.

Although no release date was mentioned, Verizon did boast that the RAZR MAXX will ship with 32GB of total memory and will retail for $300 with a new two-year customer agreement. 

With failing batteries being the biggest complaint among smartphone users, especially iPhone 4S owners, the Droid RAZR MAXX could prove wildly successful if it stands up to its expectations.
