Verizon launched its latest 4G-enabled smartphone this morning, the LG Spectrum. This Android has a range of other high-end features, like a 4.5-inch True HD Screen, 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, and an 8 megapixel camera.
It has a bar shape, with a 1280 x 720, IPS display with support for 16.7 million colors. This is one of the first handsets with this high a screen resolution, which not too long ago was available only on high-end televisions.
The Spectrum runs Android OS 2.3 (Gingerbread) but an upgrade to OS 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) is scheduled for the first half of 2012. It has one of the most powerful processors available, a 1.5 GHz dual-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon S3. The device includes 1GB of RAM, and a 16GB microSD card has been bundled to provide storage.
In addition to its 8 MP rear-facing camera, this smartphone has a 1.3MP front-facing one for video chat. Other features include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and a 1830 mAh battery.
Overall, it is 5.3 by 2.7 x 0.4 inches, and 5.0 oz.
The LG Spectrum is available now on Verizon's website. It sells for $200 with a two-year service contract, or $600 without the contract. Most Verizon handsets with 4G LTE cost more than this.
