Verizon Wireless is hosting a sale on the HTC ThunderBolt until January 26. The 4G smartphone will be free after a new two-year contract.
The device debuted last spring for $300 with contract. Over time, as new models are released, the prices for previous ones inevitably drop.
Verizon is also selling an extended battery for 50 percent off with the purchase of the phone. This is a popular accessory, as the battery life for the ThunderBolt has been widely criticized.
More about this Model
The ThunderBolt has a variety of features including a 4.3-inch, 480 x 800 (WVGA) display, an 8MP rear-facing camera, and a 1.3MP front-facing camera. It ships with Android OS 2.3 (Gingerbread) with HTC Sense overlay, and runs a 1GHz processor.
Customers are able to store additional memory to the phone. It is capable of holding up to 32GB of external memory through a microSD card.
Thanks to its support for HTC ThunderBolt offers data transfer speeds of 5 to 12 Mbps for downloads and 2 to 5 Mbps upload speeds under ideal conditions, ThunderBolt users will be satisfied with the quickness of the device.
Although this was the first 4G phone released by Verizon Wireless, many have been released since then, like the Motorola Droid RAZR and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.
