The Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX, which was released yesterday, is being sold by Verizon for $300 with contract. Those who are looking for a cheaper price need look no further than Amazon Wireless, however.
The giant online shopping site is offering the smartphone for new Verizon customers for
$200 with a contract, or for $230 for current subscribers. The special price is currently available, but it’s not clear how long this sale will last. Those who purchase the phone through Amazon will have to wait 1-2 weeks, since it is currently on backorder.
The RAZR MAXX runs Android OS 2.3.5 (Gingerbread) with an upgrade to OS 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) coming soon. It is built around a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor with 32GB of total memory (16GB built in, 16GB microSD card). It also has a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Advanced screen.
The smartphone has a bigger battery than the original Droid RAZR, but is still impressively thin at 9 mm. The 3300mAh battery that is included is rated at 21 hours of talk time, 7 hours or web surfing, 15 hours of video, or 60 hours of listening to music.
The MAXX sports an 8MP rear-facing camera that can capture 1080p HD video and a 1.3MP HD front-facing camera for videoconferencing. It runs on Verizon's 4G LTE, plus 3G EV-DO.
