Today, Samsung announced the launch of the Galaxy S Advance that will be available for customers around the world starting in February. The list of countries getting this Android smartphone doesn't include the U.S., however.
The phone is positioning to be a mid-range headset with specifications and features that fall between the original Galaxy and the Galaxy II line. The 4-inch Galaxy S Advance features a 1GHz processor, curved design with a Super AMOLED display with 800 x 480 resolution, HSPA 14.4 support, 768MB of RAM, up to 16GB of internal storage, and a 5MP rear-facing camera.
It will ship running Android OS 2.3 (Gingerbread). Samsung did not announce any plans for an update to OS 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich).
After it debuts in Russia next month, the smartphone will then be rolled out in the Commonwealth of Independent States, Europe, Africa, Middle East, Southeast and Southwest Asia, Latin America, and China.
