T-Mobile Quickly Cuts Price of the Nokia Lumia 710 Windows Phone

Despite being released in the U.S. less than a month ago, T-Mobile has reduced the price of the Nokia Lumia 710. The smartphone that was originally $50 is now being sold on this carrier's website for $40 after a $50 mail-in rebate.

The Lumia 710 debuted for T-Mobile in mid-January. This was the first of Nokia's new models running Microsoft's Windows Phone operating system to launch in the U.S.

A price cut so soon after a handset is introduced is rare, and generally not taken as a good sign. It is likely an indication that Nokia and T-Mobile were seeing disappointing sales of this product at the previous price.

Overview of the Lumia 710
The device features a 3.7-inch LCD Touchscreen with "ClearBlack" technology. It runs on a 1.4GHz Qualcomm processor, has 512MB of RAM, and features Windows Phone 7.5 OS (Mango), the latest version of Microsoft's mobile operating system. The model includes 8GB of internal storage and 25GB of storage on Microsoft's SkyDrive cloud service.

According to its website, some T-Mobile customers can get an additional $30 off for a limited time offer. These customers must be eligible for an upgrade and be in good standing with T-Mobile.
