LG Optimus 3D 2 Details Slip Out Ahead of MWC 2012

It seems like the Mobile World Congress won’t be filled with surprises this year, as the specs of a great many of the smartphones geared for a grand unveiling at the event will have come out through unofficial channels beforehand. The latest of these is a 3D-enabled model from LG.

A report is saying that the LG Optimus 3D 2 will make its first appearance at this tradeshow in Barcelona in a few weeks. The announcement seems plausible, as the company announced its predecessor at MWC last year.

There hasn’t been much released about the Optimus 3D 2 in terms of specifications, however, according to reports, LG has made the device thinner and lighter than its predecessor. The Optimus 3D was 12mm and 168g, while the newer one will reportedly be 9.8mm and 148g.

Other leaked details include HDMI and DNLA technology, as well as the ability to display 3D images on a high-definition screen.  It’s unclear what version of Android the device will ship with. The Optimus 3D shipped with Android 2.2 (Froyo) instead of Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) in order to release quicker.
