Samsung Galaxy S II Coming Soon to U.S. Cellular

U.S. Cellular subscribers looking to get their hands on a Samsung handset will get the chance with the Galaxy S II.

Customers will have to pay $230 after a $100 mail-in rebate and after signing a two year contract. Exactly when the smartphone will be available from this carrier was not revealed today, however.

The 4.5-inch Galaxy S II sports a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and a Super AMOLED Plus display, providing a vivid and crisp viewing experience. It runs Android OS 2.3, codenamed Gingerbread, and features an 8MP rear-facing camera. It also has 16GB of user memory with a microSD slot that enables the phone to store up to an additional 32GB of total memory. The handset also features Swype technology for quick text entry.

This model debuted last year from several other carriers in America, including AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint. It will not be getting an upgrade to Android OS 4.0.

Those looking to pick up a device that is able to use U.S. Cellular's new 4G LTE network will have to wait for the Samsung Galaxy S Aviator's release. The Galaxy S II will not run on the 4G network -- it will only run on the slower 3G network.
