Today at the Mobile World Conference in Barcelona,
Samsung announced an addition to its line of gaming-oriented handhelds: the Galaxy S Wi-Fi 4.2.
This is advertised as "the best of Android experiences with powerful gaming to go" by Samsung. The device will sport a 4.2-inch WVGA (800 x 480) IPS TPT touchscreen, will run on a 1 GHz single-core processor, and will have 512MB of RAM. The device will launch with Android OS 2.3.
In size, it will slot between the two previous gaming-oriented handhelds from this company, the Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 and Galaxy Player 4.0.
It will also feature a 2MP rear-facing camera, a VGA front-facing one for videoconferencing, Bluetooth 3.0, USB 2.0, and a microSD hub for extra storage. Customers have a choice of purchasing an 8GB or 16GB version of the phone when released.
Aside from its usual specs, the Galaxy S Wi-Fi 4.2 will come with the SoundAlive audio system, which promises to provide users with superior sound either through the front stereo speaker or headphones. It will also have premium gaming options like Need For Speed Hot Pursuit which will use the phone?s gyroscope sensor to provide an engaging and intuitive gaming experience.? The handheld will also launch with basic Samsung Apps and Google Mobile Services.
Samsung has yet to announce the release date and price of the device.
