HTC ThunderBolt, Other Verizon Models Getting Android OS 4.0 Upgrades

Verizon Wireless has released a list of all the smartphones it offers that will be getting upgrades to the latest version of Google's operating system.  This includes models from HTC, Motorola, and LG.

This new version, code-named Ice Cream Sandwich, debuted last year on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, but got off to a slow start. It's only on a handful of models so far, but that should start changing soon.

Verizon said today that two HTC models that were introduced last spring, the HTC ThunderBolt and the Droid Incredible 2 will be getting upgrades. Another pair of more recent handset from this company will too:  the HTC Rhyme and HTC Rezound.

Every Motorola smartphone that Verizon launched in the last six months will be moving up to Android OS 4.0. This includes the Motorola Droid Bionic, the Motorola Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR MAXX, plus the Motorola Droid 4.

The LG Spectrum, which came out this winter, won't be left out.

Verizon also plans to release Android ICS upgrades for some tablets: the Motorola Xoom,  Droid Xyboard 8.2 and Droid Xyboard 10.1, as well as the Samsung Galaxy Tab7.7 and  10.1.

The carrier did not say, or even hint, when any of these upgrades will be released. Considering the months-long wait so far, however, there's no doubt some users are getting impatient.
