Developers who want to create games for Sony PlayStation Suite will soon have access to the tools they need. This will allow them to create titles for Android-based smartphones and tablets that have been Playstation certified.
Sony's own Xperia Play (shown at right) and a scattering of other models from this company were the first to be PS certified, but unconfirmed reports indicate that HTC will also join this program. The certification indicates that a device has the hardware to be a good for gaming.
A closed beta of the PlayStation Suite SDK (Software Development Kit) was introduced last fall fall, and Sony said today that an open beta program will be available in April. The full version will be released later in the year. The beta will be free, but once the actual SDK is released it will cost $99 a year to use.
