Amazon.com is having a massive sale on Sprint smartphones. For the next several weeks, new Sprint customers can get any 4G-enabled model for just a penny down when signing a new two-year contract.
This includes all the most recent high-end handsets from this carrier, such as the Samsung Epic 4G Touch, the Motorola Photon 4G, HTC EVO 3D, HTC EVO Design 4G, and a number of others.
All of these run the Android OS because the only phones that can connect to this carrier's 4G WiMAX network run Google's operating system. The iPhone 4S can't, and neither can any BlackBerry handsets.
A Consolation Prize
Unfortunately, current Sprint customers can't get these super-low discounts. Still, Amazon does offer smaller deals on these models. For example, those who are already Sprint subscribers and qualify for an upgrade subsidy can get the Epic 4G Touch for $150 with contract, down from the usual $200. The Photon 4G is $80 instead of $100 with contract, and so is the EVO 3D. The EVO Design 4G is $20 from Amazon, $80 off its regular price.
This sale is going on from today until March 26. To put in an order, visit Amazon.com.
The intent of this sale is likely to clear out inventory of devices that debuted last year. The CTIA tradeshow will be held in May, and Sprint typically uses this to introduce its new Android-based smartphone.
