Verizon Could Soon Add Shared Data to Family Plans

A screenshot that leaked out of Verizon has hit the internet today, hinting that the company will start offering a shared data plan in the future. This is a highly-requested feature by those who have a smartphone and a tablet.

It’s been reported over the past few months that Verizon planned to offer shared data plans in 2012, and the screen shot (shown below) suggests that Big Red is moving ahead with the upgrading necessary to implement such a plan.  The screenshot that tech blog Phone Arena received shows an online calculator that families can use to figure out if a shared data plan is right for them.

Verizon currently offers a shared plan that allows a group of people to have one common pool of minutes to draw from.  Apparently the company plans to implement the same concept with data in hopes of gathering more customers and selling more hardware.

Pricing for the shared data plan hasn’t been leaked, but the screen shot shows that Verizon may be in the advance stages of development.

AT&T execs have also mentioned in the past that their company is considering offering a shared data plan for smartphone and tablet users.
