A survey performed by MocoSpace of over 15,000 gamers resulted in some interesting figures concerning the world of mobile gaming.
Smartphone and tablet users are playing games longer than what may be expected. According to the survey, 52% of responders said they played games for over an hour daily, while 32% of responders said they played games for over three hours. Mobile Gaming is even present in the workplace, as 10% of responders said they played mobile games for more than three hours at work.
Social games ruled all in terms of the most played genre: 62% of users said they played social games, while 53% said they played action games. 40% said they played puzzle games, and 28% said they played casino-like games.
Responders preferred to play mobile games while at home. An impressive 96% of users said they do so, while 83% said they play while waiting for an appointment. 72% of responders play games while on commute, 64% said they play games at work or out with friends, and 46% said they play games in class. Only 25% of users play games at the gym.
While at home, over 50% of users play mobile games while in bed. 41% of gamers play while in the living room while 5% of users play in the bathroom.
"This report should make every console gaming company nervous", said MocoSpace co-founder and CEO Justin Siegel. "Mobile gaming is not a companion to consoles, but rather it's attacking them on their home turf: the couch, the La-Z-Boy and even the bedroom.
