Well, that was fast. The popular iPhone snapshot-taking and photo-sharing app, Instagram, was released for Android phones yesterday and hit a million downloads in less than 24 hours after it was available.

First released for iOS devices in October 2010, Instagram has played a major role in photo editing and sharing for Apple devices. It has shaped the way other apps are being developed and was most recently named "App of the Year" by Apple for 2011.
Instagram is a way to share photos with anyone in the world. Just simply snap a photo with your smartphone, then choose a filter to transform the look and feel of the shot into the way you want it. Once the filter has been added, choose various ways to share the photo including Twitter, Facebook, or e-mail. Once on Instagram you’ll also be able to share photos with other Instagram users, comment on friends’ photos, and "like" any snapshot you enjoy.
The app is currently free to download at Google Play.
