Samsung Galaxy S III Rumored to Have 1280 x 720 Display

Those who plan on snatching up the Samsung Galaxy S III once it’s released may be in for a visual treat, as the handset is rumored to have an eye-popping 1280 x 720 resolution.

A Korean news site known as Digital Daily has reported that the Galaxy S III will have a 4.65-inch display and a Super AMOLED Plus display featuring the 1280 x 720 resolution. This is a sizable step up from its predecessor, with the Galaxy S II also featuring a Super AMOLED Plus display, but only a 800 x 400 pixel resolution.

The release timing of the Galaxy S III is still very much up in the air. Early reports suggested that it could see a release sometime in May, with more recent rumors indicating that it could be due out this month, though Samsung has explicitly denied the latter. What we do know for sure, however, is that the Galaxy S III is currently being tested by Korean carriers. While that would normally be good news (especially since Samsung has indicated that it would like to complete the testing sooner than the usual month span) the process will probably be longer on account of the phone’s quad-core chip and LTE connectivity.
