1. Samsung Galaxy S II - (Previously #1) The Galaxy S II is the follow-up to a very popular smartphone from 2010. It has a larger display than its predecessor, a faster processor, and better camera. This model runs Android OS 2.3 (Gingerbread) on a 1.5GHz dual-core processor with TouchWiz as its user interface. It includes an 8.0-megapixel camera, while a 2.0-megapixel front-facing camera can be used for video conferencing. Read a Review

2. Samsung Galaxy Nexus (Previously #2) This Samsung model has a 4.65-inch, 1280 x 720 Super AMOLED display. It runs Android OS 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) on a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and has 16GB of internal storage. Verizon's version has 4G LTE, NFC, plus it has a 5 megapixel rear-facing camera and a 1.3 megapixel one on the front. Read a Review

3. Nokia Lumia 900 (Previously # 5) - When it is released by AT&T this spring, the Lumia 900 will be the flagship of Nokia's new Windows Phone line of smartphones. It will pack a large, ClearBlack AMOLED display, as well as a range of other cutting-edge features, including LTE. It will have just a single-core processor, however. Read a Preview

4. Apple iPhone 4S - (Previously #5) The fifth-generation iPhone wasn't what many had expected, but it's nevertheless selling very well. It's a moderately-updated version of its predecessor, with a 1GHz dual-core processor and an 8 megapixel camera. The Retina screen and over-all design of the handset have not changed. The device is available from AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint. Read a Review

5. Samsung Galaxy Note - (Previously #7) Thanks to its 5.3-inch Super AMOLED display, the Galaxy Note skirts the line between smartphone and tablet. It also has a stylus. This device runs Android OS 2.3, but an upgrade to OS 4.0 is in development. The Note includes a rear-facing 8MP camera plus a 2MP front-facing camera that enables video conferencing when on the go. AT&T is the only U.S. carrier that offers it. Read a Review

6. Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX - (New) This model has the same specs as the original Droid RAZR, but has nearly twice the battery life at the price of being just slightly thicker. It's still quite slim, however. In the U.S., the device available exclusively from Verizon. Read a Review

7. Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket - (Returning) This smartphone from AT&T is the only version of the Galaxy S II that supports 4G LTE high-speed wireless networks. Aside from that it has the usual 4.5-inch WVGA screen, 1.5GHz processor, and 8 MP camera. It shouldn't be confused with the other "Galaxy S II" model from this carrier, which is smaller and lacks 4G support. Read a Review

8. Motorola Droid 4 - (New) The latest in the long-running Droid line, this model has a large sliding keyboard and touchscreen like its predecessors. Unlike unlike it earlier models in this series, though, the Droid 4 supports Verizon's 4G LTE network.  Read a Review

9. HTC Titan II - (New) The follow-up to one of the bigger Windows Phone models released last year, this is equally epic in size, with a 4.7-inch display. The Titan II is one of the first smartphones running this operating system from Microsoft to include support for 4G LTE. At this time, it is available exclusively from AT&T. Read a Preview

10. Nokia Lumia 710 - (New) This was the first of Nokia's new models running Microsoft's Windows Phone operating system to launch in the U.S. It's an entry-level device intended to get this company a toehold in America. In the U.S., the Lumia 710 is available only from T-Mobile, and supports this carrier's 4G HSPA+ network.  Read a Review
