Samsung Galaxy S III Will Sport a Full HD Display

Although the official announcement is still weeks away, there have been quite a number of rumors circulating about the Samsung Galaxy S III. Two of the remaining mysteries about this device have now been cleared up, however.

Brighthand correspondent Dragan Petric was attending the IFA Global Press Conference recently when a Samsung representative told him, off the record of course, that this smartphone is going to have a full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) touchscreen. This should help lay to rest previous reports that the model will have a lower-res 1280 x 720 display.

Coming Next Month

This morning, Samsung began sending out invitations to a press event where this smartphone is going to be unveiled. These invites ask the recipient to "Come and Meet the Next Galaxy". The event is scheduled for May 3 in London.

Previously, Samsung had released the new Galaxy S models in Europe months before they came to the U.S. It's looking like the same will be true with the next version.

The Galaxy S III is expected to be a cutting-edge device, created to go head-to-head with the latest iPhone. Its predecessor has sold by the million using the same strategy.

The device will almost certainly debut running Google Android OS 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) on a 1.5GHz quad-core processor made by Samsung. It will reportedly have a very large display: 4.8 inches.

Other items on the leaked list of features include 4G LTE, an 8-megapixel rear camera, and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera.
