Sprint Now Taking Pre-Orders for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Launching on Sunday

A device likely to be one of Sprint's top sellers can now be pre-ordered: the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. This cutting-edge Android smartphone, one of this carrier's first with 4G LTE, will hit store shelves this weekend.

Verizon debuted this model in the U.S. late last year,?but Sprint will become the second carrier in this country to offer it on Sunday, April 22. Pre-orders can be placed now at www.sprint.com/nexus.

It is going to sell for $200 with a two-year contract. This is $100 less than Verizon is charging for its version of this handset.

Product Overview

The Galaxy Nexus is one of the few devices shipping with Android OS 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), the very latest version of Google's operating system. It has a 4.65-inch, 1280 x 720 Super AMOLED display?that?has a?slight curve.?This device is built around?a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, with 1GB of RAM.?

Sprint's version will sport?32GB of internal storage. It will also support NFC (Near Field Communications)?and come with Google Wallet.

Although the Galaxy Nexus is going to be able to connect to Sprint's 4G LTE network, the carrier doesn't actually have this network up and running. It has promised its switch from WiMAX to LTE will start before the middle of this year, however.
