On the heels of yesterday's announcement that Google is selling the Samsung Galaxy Nexus directly to customers, it looks like Google will continue its partnership with the smartphone manufacturers for the development of the next-generation Nexus.
Sources say that since Samsung has become the global top vendor in terms of Android smartphones, Google will continue to work with this Korean company to develop its next-generation Nexus model, leveraging Samsung's innovation ability and its ability to control the supply of important components.
Samsung wasn't Google's original partner for the Nexus smartphones. When Google launched its first phone, it had HTC develop the Nexus One. However, Google then shifted to Samsung in 2010 and has been with them ever since.
