T-Mobile Announces Budget-Friendly Android Smartphone: T-Mobile Prism

Today, T-Mobile announced the upcoming availability of the budget-friendly smartphone geared for a weekend release, the T-Mobile Prism.

The device will be just $20 after a new two-year agreement and after a $50 mail-in rebate. It is going to be powered by Android OS 2.3 (Gingerbread) and will sport a 3.5-inch HVGA touchscreen. Users can capture photos and videos on the device thanks to its 3.2MP rear-facing camera.

Internally, the Prism will feature a 600MHz processor and will have 512MB of internal memory space, which can be expanded to 2GB with an SD card. The smartphone will support 802.11 b/g/h Wi-Fi and will come with a 1400mAh battery.

The Prism was originally launched last year under the moniker the Huawei Sonic. T-Mobile decided to take the phone, slap its own name on it, and advertise it to those looking for a cheap alternative for a smartphone.

It will hit this carrier's shelves on Sunday, May 6.
