T-Mobile to Launch 4G HSPA+ Service Especially for the iPhone

As part of T-Mobile continuing network modernization efforts, the company plans to launch 4G HSPA+ service in the 1900MHz band in a large number of markets by the end of the year. By rolling out this service in that particular band, subscribers will be able to use more devices such as the iPhone 4S on the carrier's 4G network.

The wireless carrier does not currently sell the Apple iPhone 4S, but has recently said that over a million of its subscribers are using unlocked iPhones on its network. The current version of Apple's smartphone does not support the wireless frequencies that T-Mobile uses for 3G or 4G. Despite that, subscribers in large numbers are still using unlocked iPhones and are limited to voice calls and slower EDGE connections.

That being said, T-Mobile is the only carrier out of the "Big Four" that doesn’t offer the iPhone. It has been discussed that the carrier might sell the next generation iPhone, and with the addition of the new 4G HSPA+ service in the 1900MHz band, it may come to life by the iPhone 5 launch date.

Although late in the game, T-Mobile may want to think about jumping on the iPhone bandwagon. Since its initial launch on AT&T in 2007, the iPhone has slowly become one of the Most Popular Smartphones in the market. Its latest model, the iPhone 4S, has helped Apple stay atop of the competition. Newest reports have the iPhone 4S as the most popular handset sold in the United Kingdom.
