Kingston Wi-Drive Now Available for Android Devices; Receives Additional Updates

Kingston has announced that the Wi-Drive received a hefty update including Android support as well as other enhancements and improvements. This accessory can hold video and other files, and acts as external storage for devices that don't have removable memory cards.

Originally an iOS-only product, the Wi-Drive will now be compatible with any Android OS 2.2 device or later. Users will be able to stream any form of media or files to their smartphone or tablet by connecting to the Wi-Drive over Wi-Fi.

The update also allows a multi-platform wireless streaming of data via a web browser.

In addition, Kingston has expanded its offerings -- the device is now available with up to 64GB of storage.

Minor enhancements and improvements have been made to the apps for Kindle Fire and Apple devices. Current users of these Wi-Drive apps will automatically receive a notification for these updates. The free Wi-Drive Android App is available on Google Play.

Kingston made this announcement at the spring CTIA tradeshow, going on now in New Orleans.
