Next-Generation iPhone Could Debut in Early Fall

Apple may be releasing the next-generation iPhone as early as September, according to Taiwanese industry sources. That's bad news for those still hoping for a summer debut.

DigiTimes reports that the current original equipment manufacturers, Pegatron, has received orders for the new iPhone and has already finished expanding its equipment and labor for Apple’s orders.

Nothing, official or non, has been said so far about carrier availability. Still, the sixth Apple smartphone is almost certain to be offered by AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint in the U.S. The big question is T-Mobile.

What We Know Now

With a potential release window firming up, what is the iPhone supposed to look like when it is finally released? A recent report indicated that the next-generation Apple handset will be taller and thinner and will sport a larger screen. The width of the device will not change, but the resolution of the phone might, which could cause some headaches for Apple and developers.

Internally, the sixth-generation iPhone maybe be getting a new dock connector. It will have a re-designed power and data port, which will have fewer pins. It is also heavily rumored that the new Apple smartphone will be able to run on the 4G LTE network.

Aside from that, we’re unsure what processor the phone may run, however some say Apple may use a new processor chip different than the new iPad.
