ZTE To Bring WP7-Based Tania To U.S.

Chinese phone manufacturing company ZTE intends to bring the entry-level Tania, a Windows Phone device, to the United States sometime this year.

Lixin Cheng, ZTE’s head of North American business told CNET in an interview at CTIA this week that the Tania, which is currently only sold in China and the U.K., would be coming stateside by the end of 2012.

More About the ZTE Tania

Running Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango), the Tania sports a 1 GHz processor, a 4.3-inch display, 512 MB of ram, and a 5-megapixel camera. Oddly enough, it only has 4GB of onboard storage, despite Microsoft’s minimum WP7 specification of 8 GB of storage. It is unknown whether these specs will remain unchanged when the Tania makes its way to the US, but if they do, the 4GB of storage could be a little problematic, given that Windows Phone devices do not feature expandable storage.

Unfortunately, there is no information yet regarding the pricing (or exact release date) of the ZTE Tania, nor did Cheng mention what carriers the phone would be available through.
