AT&T To Start Pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy S III on Wednesday

AT&T says it is going to start taking pre-orders for Samsung's new flagship model in two days, but hasn't yet announced a launch date. It was the last of the "Big Four" U.S. carriers to reveal its plans for this popular new Android smartphone.

Unlike some of its American rivals, AT&T is only going to offer one version of the Samsung Galaxy S -- this will have 16 GB of internal storage and sell for $200 with a two-year wireless service contract. The carrier won't offer the 32 GB version that will be released by Verizon and Sprint.

AT&T customers will be able to choose this handset in the standard blue and white casings, but this carrier is also going to exclusively offer a red model.

Pre-sales will begin on Wednesday, June 6.  When this company will release its version of the latest Galaxy S model is not yet known -- AT&T will only say this will happen "in the coming weeks".

Samsung Galaxy S III Overview

This high-end model debuted outside of the United States last month, and demand for it has been strong. Close to 10 million have already been sold.

AT&T's version of the Galaxy S III is going to include two forms of 4G -- LTE and HSPA+. It will also have Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, and GPS. 

This version is going to run Android OS 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) on a 1.5 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor with 2GB of RAM.

The design for this Samsung smartphone is built around its 4.8-inch, 1280 x 720 (720p), Super AMOLED touchscreen. Also on the feature list is a 2100mAh swappable battery, an 8 megapixel main camera, and a 1.9MP camera on its front.
